"Cleanliness is Next to Godliness"

Being clean is a sign of spiritual purity or goodness. :)

Cleanliness refers not only to the way we tend to our hygiene, but also to the care we take to maintain and cherish all aspects of our environments (inner and outer) within our control.

Cleanliness is often a daily ritual in the house and soul of setting things to rights, whether they are dishes, tools, or conscience. It may refer to purging ourselves of the clutter and other impediments that prevent us from moving forward with our work and play. The act of being cleanly does not refer to being “spotless”, but to the art of moving through the day making choices that increase the well-being and functionality of ourselves and those around us.

What’s in your Rubbish Bin?

A large percentage of UK household’s still do not recycle enough and throw everything that they consider ‘rubbish’ into their ordinary bin.
Much of this waste can be recycled and should be disposed of separately to general household waste. Look inside this rubbish bin to see how much of the contents should actually have been recycled. :))

SAVE THE EARTH!

It is now the high time to do our own share in protecting Earth and her wonderful creatures.

Our planet is indeed gasping for breath right now, our harmful pollutions is indeed choking her slowly and continues to stripped her with her ozone layer. I think it is about time to give our timely response to this alarming state of the only planet we live in, by doing our own share of protecting her with doing simple things that will surely stir big difference. For if not, we might be harming ourselves in the years ahead as well, for nature has its own destructive way of getting back at us humans, the signs of earth's displeasure with inappropriate and harmful activities of humans are now seen and felt all across the globe like the global warming, climate change, acid rain, drought, flash floods and other forms of natural catastrophes. Here are some practical and small ways that could help our planet get a sigh of relief. Collective small efforts by those who are genuinely concerned with earth's welfare will inevitably help her by great leap and bounds.
1. Don’t allow your children to free those colorful balloons in mid air. Teach your children not to release these balloons. For balloons that escaped the grasps of your children that will get into oceans and seas will be mistaken as yummy jellyfish by sea turtles. Sea turtles takes a lot of years to mature and unfortunately some of them got killed by eating balloon or plastic bags. Sea turtles are part of the delicate cycle and if their population is affected other species of marine creatures are also under threat.
2. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Make it a habit to reduce the things we need or we consume. Purchase only things that we only need and eat only what you can. Let us do our share not to be part of the problem or should I say part of the garbage problem. Reuse all the things that can still be repaired/fixed or those things that are still okay.
Recycle things to conserve our resources, collect old newspapers, books, magazines, used papers, bottles (plastic and glass), and any other things that you could sell in junkyards. There is money in garbage and at the same time we’re doing our part in recycling process.
3. Be kind to trees. As much as possible use forests products and timber very well with optimum efficiency. You may use the back of coupons, use pencils until it become as small as possible, and don’t play with matches. Try to get involved in tree planting in your local conservation program. This could be fun as trees can give us added oxygen, shades for people and a refuge to different insects and birds.
4. Broken scientific apparatus like thermometer, barometers, manometers, sphygmanometers, and float valves and other things that have mercury on it should be disposed properly. Avoid throwing this in rivers for mercury is toxic and poisonous.

Plant for the Planet :)

Lets practice ourselves planting more trees in our community because it can help us in minimizing the pollution in the air, we can get our needs, trees are also important to other animals to be their shelter.
We, filipino People, know that last December 2011 CDO hits by the Typhoon Sendong and many people died because of massive flash floods and Landslide that ruined their houses and properties because of lacking of trees in their mountains due to illegal deforestation. So it's important to replace one or more when you're cutting trees in a particular place.
There are a lot of benefits of Planting Trees, these are the ff:

bulletStabilizing slopes — When you hear of mudslides, usually they are due to slopes being denuded of all trees. Grasses are not capable of anchoring the soil. When it rains hard, the topsoil loses its friction with the subsoil, and mudslides and floods occur that can claim lives (as in Haiti during the hurricanes of 2004).
bulletBuffering water — Forests act like huge water reservoirs, preventing flash floods from occurring. Also, because of the storage capacity of the forest, it keeps water in the streams, even during the dry season.
bulletHabitat — Bringing back diverse tropical rain forest plant life around the streams creates biological corridors that allow monkeys and other wildlife to move between natural jungle areas that are now cut off to these animals by farms and towns. Reforesting can also restore certain tree species crucial to endangered birds.
bulletCarbon sequestering — Trees store carbon, and as long as they are not burned or allowed to rot, the wood will lock up carbon, helping to slow global warming. This is so important that some countries actually pay to have countries like Costa Rica grow trees.
bulletLumber — There are many trees that are becoming rare that can be preserved through reforestation. Mahogany is one example. By growing it on plantations, we can preserve this beautiful wood for future generations. Also, growing commercially valuable wood on plantations provides a way to harvest these trees without destroying rain forest.
bulletJobs — The biggest threat to tropical rain forests is the need for good-paying jobs for people who do not have many skills that are valuable in industry or other sectors. Creating plantations can generate employment that helps break the cycle of clear-cutting forest to grow cattle or crops for market.
bulletIncome — Reforestation projects that are well-run provide a good source of income for those who invest in them and can provide a living inheritance for the next generation.
bulletResidency — The Costa Rican government gives incentives to those who participate in reforestation, including the right to apply for residency in Costa Rica based oninvesting a certain amount in a qualified reforestation project.

SO LET'S PLANT MORE TREES FOR A BETTER WORLD! =))
